| Dr. William H. Hoover received his B.S., M.S.
and Ph.D. degrees from Penn State University.
He is a Professor Emeritus of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at
West Virginia University. Dr. Hoover's major research interests
include: ruminant nutrition and physiology, continuous culture application
and methodology, nitrogen utilization during lactation, by-product
and forage utilization in ruminants and nutrient requirements of
rumen microbes.
Dr. Hoover's most recent studies include evaluation of the relationship
between rumen function and milk production; determination of the
nutrients required to maximize rumen function, and the feeds that
best provide these nutrients.
Focus is currently on: required protein amounts and types, and
required carbohydrate fractions including sugars, starches and fibrous
carbohydrates. He presently serves as technical advisor and consultant
to the Rumen Fermentation Profiling Laboratory, West Virginia University.
